Woodville Community Managed Library
We are connected with our local Community Managed Library in Woodville, with current staff members and alumni from our school operating the library in a volunteer and trustee capacity.
The Library is a part of a wider local project, Circularity, co-founded by a member of our current staff team and involving a number of our staff, students, and alumni. The leadership and governing body at The William Allitt School have been a major driver of the development of Circularity which aims to help build Creative Collaborative Compassionate Communities and is currently applying for Charity status.
"On August 21st 2021, we opened the first Community Managed Library in Derbyshire. Supported by Derbyshire County Council, we are a designated safe space powered by a diverse and inclusive group of volunteers to run the library service and to provide a haven for reading and creativity in Woodville.
Our dream for the future is to be up and running as a ‘Hub’ for the community, and to become a blueprint for to be used again and again to repurpose spaces with community led involvement."
You can visit the library during their opening hours: -
Mondays (exc Bank Holidays) - 2pm til 7pm
Fridays - 2pm til 7pm
Saturdays - 10am til 1pm
