There is an opportunity for an interested parent to join the governing body of The William Allitt School. A parent governor has full strategic involvement in the direction of the school and full voting rights at both full governing body meetings and delegated committees.
A parent governor brings a unique insight to governance, as both a customer of the school, and someone who can help shape future direction. This is not an opportunity to press your own child’s position, or to be a problem solver in the community. It is a chance to support the long term goals for the benefit of all students through strategic management.
To qualify for the role you must be a parent of a child at the school when your term begins. A term last four years and is not, necessarily, terminated if your child leaves the school before this term ends. You cannot be a parent governor if you are either; an elected member of a council or an employee of the school who works more than 500 hours in a 12 month period.
If you are interested, but have some questions, or would simply like to request a self-nomination form, then please contact us at ?
If more than one nomination is received an election for the position would be required.
The closing date for nominations is 25/9/20.
To assist in the smooth running of the school’s examinations by invigilating both external and internal examinations as and when required throughout the school year.

Due to posts having access to children and/or vulnerable adults, candidates will be required to undertake a Disclosure and Barring Service check. The possession of a criminal record will not necessarily prevent an applicant from obtaining this post, as all cases are judged individually according to the nature of the role and information provided.
This will need to be returned to the school either by email to email@example.com or posted to Mrs A. Poxon, The William Allitt School, Sunnyside, Newhall, Swadlincote, Derbyshire, DE11 0TL.
Parent Governor Vacancy
The governing body is responsible for both the conduct of the school and for promoting high standards. The governing body carries out its role by setting the vision for the school and then ensuring that the school works efficiently and effectively towards achieving its vision. It does this by building a thorough knowledge of the school and its community, by both supporting and constructively challenging the school, and by ensuring accountability and compliance. The governing body of our school is made up of parent governors, co-opted governors (who have joined the governing body to offer skills in certain areas) a staff governor and a local authority governor.
A vacancy has arisen for a parent governor on our governing body. At the moment the governing body has a need for governors who have expertise in the effective use of ICT in schools, including the infrastructure of ICT systems and in public services budgeting and finance.
If you would be interested in contributing to governance at our school or nominating a potential candidate, please email your contact details and any brief information/areas of interest to firstname.lastname@example.org Your details will be passed to the Chair of Governors who will then arrange a time for a conversation about the next steps in the process.
